Bone Engineering and Soft Tissue Management Around Implants

COURSE PROGRAM & DATES:

Session One April 3-4, 2009
Immediate loading, Impression techniques on implant patients, Soft Tissue Management and Soft Tissue Enhancement around Implants.

On Friday Drs will place implants on a typodont, place abutments and take impressions of the implants. The Drs will perform soft tissue surgeries on models or Pig Heads.
On Saturday, live surgery with immediate loading will be performed in patients. For this module, Drs will either bring their patients that have had implants placed during the course or patients they have done on their own for stage II and final impression. Some patients will require an attached gingiva enhancement. The participants will be trained "LIVE" in different techniques to uncover and enhance soft tissues around implants and in addition to take impressions on their implant patients.

Session Two May 15-16, 2009
Surgical site development

On Friday the Drs will practice different techniques for soft tissue management, ridge splits and blocks in models (which may include typodont and/or porcine heads and ribs). The Drs will then be able to learn and perfect different applications of Piezo devices in implant dentistry as the companies will bring Piezo devices and kits.
We will have workshops on Growth factors utilization.
On Saturday Drs can bring patients for LIVE surgical site development which includes bone grafts, blocks, ridge split and different soft tissue

Session Three June 12-13, 2009
Techniques for enhancement of connective tissue
Contemporary techniques for Sinus elevation
Lateral window, summers osteotomes technique and different strategies for internal elevation will be practiced in models (Typodont and/or porcine). The Drs will be able to bring patients for LIVE sinus elevation surgery at their choice.

Session Four July 10-11, 2009
TMJ disorders and management of occlusion and parafunctional forces in implant patients.
Drs will learn different aspects related to force distribution in implant patients, and will learn splint design and fabrication. Examination techniques and diagnosis will also be covered in this module as well as implant occlusion and Biomechanics. A workshop on Computerized Occlusal analysis will be conducted.
On Saturday Drs can either conduct surgeries or bring a patient for fabrication of splints.

Session Five August 7, 8 and 9, 2009
Live surgery in Cartagena, Colombia at Universidad Rafael Nuñez.
Perform an implant related procedure of your choice under supervision. A patient will be provided to you for evaluation and treatment.
(An additional fee of $800.00 will be charged for this session)

FACULTY:

Alvaro Ordoñez, DDS
Associate professor at the University of Florida, expert consultant at the Veterans Hospital, GP with exclusive practice in TMD and dental implants. Research fellow in TMD and facial pain at Tuft Univesity Pain Center in Boston. Co-chairman for Latin America of the ICOI. Published author at Clinical Innovations, American Academy of Osseointegration.

Avi Schetritt, DMD
Dr. Avi Schetritt is a board certified periodontist and currently maintains a private practice in Miami Florida. Dr. Schetritt has lectured nationally and internationally on the topics of periodontics and implant dentistry. He has also authored several articles on these topics.

Raymond Kimsey, DMD
Graduate of University of Florida, completed GPR with extensive experience in anesthesia and pediatrics. Active in the education of residents in the management of apprehensive patients.

Raphael Santriech, Ceramist
Owner of a dental laboratory in Aventura, FL, specializes in all fixed restorations and custom cosmetics. Trainer of Nobel Biocare and KOL of GC. Published cases and techniques, member of ACP and IADR.
